Off-Grid - Where network electricity is not available or very expensive to connect to - off-grid is a completely independent system consisting of several components which would include - Solar or wind or water + inverter/charger + deepcycle batteries + generator for back up

Grid-Connect - Where you are connected to an electricity company for your power but you generate your own alternative power as well. Any excess power that you make can be sold back to your electricity company. This system consists of Solar or wind or water & a grid-tie inverter
