Our Background

'Passionate about the privilege of our lifestyle and the future we understand the complexities of remote living off-grid, and know how to make it a reality.'

The founder of Current Generation, Brendon Ahnfeldt, (who everyone calls Arny), trained as a fitter/turner and worked on fishing boats for 20 years  as a marine engineer.  This has given him an extensive background with industrial generators & diesel engines.  (He loves big toys!)

Upon leaving his seagoing career in 2003 Arny started work as a maintenance engineer in a large national corporation.  Always looking for a new challenge he approached the company to do more training & completed an apprenticeship as an industrial electrician.

Arny & Michelle run Current Generation in a partnership, they live off-grid themselves on the beautiful Jackett's Island 15 minutes from the town of Motueka.
